The BBQ pit at Salt Lick, Round Rock TX. Maybe not as great as the one in Driftwood, but heck, it shares a parking lot with the Round Rock Express who play in one of the most beautiful minor league stadiums in America.

Pay the Library Cops with Canned Goods
The St. Louis Public Library has a great idea. Bring in those overdue books and you get off with a smile as long as you bring in some canned food that goes to the area food banks.
Finding Good Pastrami Is Not Easy
If you are west of New York (or maybe Chicago), finding good pastrami is like finding an all-star player on the Diamondbacks. Here's a food cart in Portland that specializes in pastrami; we are doing a food cart tour of Portland in August. I will let you know my take.

Free Hoagies? Where do I Sign Up?
Wawa was giving away free hoagies on July 2nd to commemorate Welcome America Day, whatever that means. In true Philadelphia fashion, folks waited in line for hours for a free hoagies. Are you kidding me? Hoagies from Wawa? I wouldn't cross the street for one of those. Wagon Wheel--now you're talking!

Tony Bourdain at Book People, Austin
Chef/writer/TV bon vivant Tony Bourdain was in town to sign copies of his new book, "Medium Raw" at Book People which is right 'round the corner from Whole Foods flagship store.

The best part of the story: it took 48 tries to get the formula right. Here's the quote from the company founders- "Definitely the first few times we had our heave bucket close by."
